Contact usWhy should my child do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instead of Karate or Taekwondo?
Any martial arts program is better than no martial arts program for your kid. Learning discipline, order, and accountability are great things to have your kids learn at a young age. BJJ separates itself from the others in it’s practical day-to-day use. No other martial arts is more useful in real-world situations than Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. For kids, think about a bullying situation or the bigger kid picking on the smaller kid. This is EXACTLY what Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was created for; the smaller person defending themselves against the larger person.
What Values Are Emphasized in Martial Arts Training for Young Children?
Martial arts training for young children prioritizes several core values essential for their personal development. Here are the key principles:
- Confidence: The programs are designed to build self-assurance. Children learn to trust their abilities, helping them tackle challenges both on and off the mat with a positive mindset.
- Integrity: Honesty and strong moral principles are instilled in each student. Children are taught the importance of doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, fostering a sense of respect and ethical conduct.
- Intensity in Training: Commitment and a strong work ethic are emphasized. Young martial artists are encouraged to train diligently, understanding that effort and perseverance lead to improvement and success.
- Anti-Bullying: A zero-tolerance approach to bullying is at the heart of the training. Kids are not only coached to defend themselves but also to stand up against bullying behavior in all forms, promoting a culture of kindness and empathy.
Incorporating these values into martial arts training helps shape well-rounded, resilient individuals who are prepared to handle life’s various challenges with courage and integrity.
How fast will my child earn new belt ranks?
Earning rank in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is different from many other martial arts and “karate” classes where you can become a black belt in 12-24 months. Earning a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can take up to 10 years. Generally, our kid’s classes can expect to hold their current belt rank for 12 or so months after earning that belt. Stripes are awarded along the way based on attendance, knowledge or techniques, helpfulness in class, and performance in school; these are not the only factors that add up to advancement in rank.
Can my child Get Hurt Training Jiu Jitsu?
No more likely than your child playing soccer, baseball, or football. Our controlled learning environment helps ensure that your child will go home in one piece and be excited to return to the next class! Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches the kids how to defend themselves without throwing a single punch so they don’t get in trouble at school if that type of situation should arise.
How often can my child attend class?
Once enrolled, your kids can attend any kids class that is on the schedule!
What can I expect in my first class?
During your kids’ first class, they will be welcomed and included in the class just like they’ve been a member for years. They will receive one on one instruction from our knowledgeable instructors and they will work in with one or more of our students to help nurture and develop the basic foundations of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
